Omigosh!! How many photos, photo albums, CDs and movies can we own!?! Too many!
Luckily, there are a ton of options to move into the digital world.
For photos, documents and other important files:
- Google Drive offers up to 15GB of storage for PDF, Word, Excel style documents. I found capturing Cailey's school work here very helpful. Definitely reduces the clutter of keeping those 'A+' records!
- Google Photos offers UNLIMITED storage for standard definition files. HD has a limit... not sure what it is cause I do not need them in HD so have not even started filling that quota.
- Amazon also offers another place to store photos and files, similar to Google. I have not explored it too much yet.
For TV and movies:
- Vudu is a kickass way to convert your DVD discs to digital. As long as they fall under the right parameters, you can convert from DVD to digital for just $2 per disc. Just have to download a program that reads and transfers them to your Vudu account. You can access them from any web browser. They have rental and other digital purchase options too.
- Netflix, of course. Great for TV and movies. Originals and old favorites. Honestly, the best $7/month you can spend for entertainment. Downside: can't store/save/buy any of the available content.
- Amazon Prime. Just started using this, but some pretty cool features. Much like Netflix, though you can buy and store content on your Amazon account.
- Other digital services are offered directly from movie studio websites (e.g. Sony, Disney, etc). Flixster is a good one too.
For music:
- Google Music. Rip your CDs to your desktop, upload files to your Google Library... access from anywhere! Really, it is that simple.
It took me the better part of 2 months or more to get all my "analog" stuff converted to digital. Pictures took the longest.. making sure they were scanned right and documented properly. Totally worth it.
